The Europa League will undergo a transformation in 2024/2025. The traditional group stage, in which the 32 teams were divided into eight groups of four teams and played each other over home and away, will disappear. From now on, 36 teams will take part in the C3 and compete in a league phase. The participants will be divided into four hats at the random draw, according to their UEFA index. Each club will face two teams in each hat. This guarantees the Gym a minimum of eight games in the Europa League next season, with four home and four away matches, against 8 different teams. An overall ranking will be maintained throughout this mini-championship, at the end of which the top eight will join the elimination phase, while the clubs ranked 9th to 24th will play a play-off. Unlike the current group stage, there will be no teams relegated to the Europa League Conference. Teams finishing 24th to 36th will be eliminated.
The random draw for the league phase will take place on August 30, 2024.
With two more matches than the traditional format, the league phase will run until January.
